Ups and Downs in Boys Basketball

EF Academy Boys’ Basketball experienced a rollercoaster of emotions during the last week of November.

After ending the game with a win at home on Thursday (11/30), the EF Academy Boys Basketball team’s atmosphere was as exciting as ever. It was their first win this season, and they couldn’t wait to carry their spirit into the upcoming game the next day.

“Great win yesterday, the momentum and the intensity among the team members were the factors that led the team to victory. Everyone was locked in from the bench to the starters, and I wish them to keep up the energy for today’s game,” said Coach Roy before leaving for the school.

The EF Academy Boys’ Basketball team had an away game facing John Glenn High School on Friday night. “Yesterday’s game was a boost, and we got the energy for today’s game,” said Vincent before departing the school for John Glenn High. But when the final buzzer sounded EF Academy walked off the floor receiving a 43-23 loss to the JG Eagles.

The match started and the EF Academy Boys had an amazing start, leading the game after the first half ended. The spirit in the team was maintained greatly from their last game at home. But as the second half started, their energy was drained, and they lost their lead.

“ I thought we would win this game at the start, everyone was tired in the second half and the team went down in the halftime break,” said Vincent.

“We lost the game, the ball just didn’t go through the net. Everyone has done their best, but there is still room for skill improvement. We will definitely not lose the game at home next Tuesday!” said Aki.

“The game was a tough one, we had a chance to win it in the first one, but as we started the second half, we went away from the little things while their energy grew stronger,” said Coach Ray on Monday (12/4), “We will need to go back to the basic to make improvements.”

The boys will be playing home facing Flintridge Prep today (12/5), Coach Ray stated that the game will also be a tough one, but they will try their best to regain their energy and spirit to take down that game.
