EF Academy has launched a new extracurricular activity: a tennis club that will give students the chance to develop sports skills, teamwork, and discipline. Though the club is still in its infancy and has not yet recorded a match win, the season has been marked by steady progress and high levels of student attendance.
The club welcomes players at any level of experience, from beginners who have never picked a racket before to students who have previously been trained. Regardless of the level of skill, the members are unified in a shared focus of personal growth and teamwork.
“I always wanted to play tennis, and being a member of this club is super cool,” stated Valentino, a 10th grader, who was one of the club’s original members. “It’s wonderful to be around people who like the same thing as me and to be able to get better together.”
For others, being in the club is a way to experiment and do something new. “I wanted to attempt a new activity, and tennis was the obvious choice,” said Clark, also a 10th grader. “I am really enjoying the learning process of the basics and watching my improvements.”
Not all members are focused on competition. “I like the sport and enjoy playing, but I’m not really interested in competing with others,” said Zhiyan, another 10th-grade student. “For me, it’s about enjoying the game and staying active.”
Assistant coach Dr. Alberto Hananel credited the group’s dedication and progress to the team’s overall team spirit. “We have both experienced players and newcomers, and it has been amazing to see how much each and every one of them has progressed in such a short amount of time,” Dr. H said. “Though we have not won any game yet, their passion and the love for the game are the secrets to what this season is all about.”
Dr. H also emphasized the leadership of the experienced players and the willingness of newcomers to learn. “It’s wonderful to see them all working together and encouraging each other to get better. I believe that if they keep their minds on it, work hard, and look out for one another, a lot of them will have a great future in tennis.”
As the season moves forward, the club is becoming more than just a place to practice, it is growing into a space where students can develop both as individuals and as part of a team.
With strong passion and a solid foundation of improvement, the EF Academy Tennis Club is poised to continue on successfully.
