On Friday, January 30, the school basketball team played a challenging game against a strong opponent. From the beginning of the game, the opposing team scored quickly and built a large lead. As the game continued, the score gap grew, making it a difficult situation for our team. Despite this, the players stayed focused and continued to compete until the final buzzer. The final score was 79–23, with the opposing team taking the win.
Throughout the game, communication played an important role. On the court, players talked to each other, called out players, and tried to stay positive even when mistakes happened. At the same time, the bench remained active. Teammates who were not on the court continued cheering and clapping, which helped keep the team energy up during tough moments.
Takumi Makihara, an 11th grade player, shared that before the game, his main focus was staying calm and mentally prepared. “We didn’t have one clear leader during this game, so everyone had to take responsibility and communicate more,” Makihara said. Because of this, players made an effort to communicate more and support each other on both offense and defense.
Brian Yu talked about the importance of encouragement from the bench and the audience. “Hearing the cheering from the bench really helped me stay motivated, even when we were losing,” Yu said. The cheering reminded the players to keep giving effort until the end.
Even though the results were not what the team hoped for, this game showed how the team stayed together and kept fighting until the end.
