A burst of final-second magic lit up the field on Monday, November 24 at 3:15 PM, when the Ef Academy boys’ soccer team battled for a dramatic tie against Providence. It was a messy, stressful match, but the boys refused to back down.
Right from kickoff, the team struggled to connect. Providence pressed nonstop and took advantage of early mistakes. Even though the lineup is full of individually strong players, the rhythm just wasn’t there yet. Still, the team kept pushing, and the pressure finally paid off when Benjamin Hovik scored the first goal, giving everyone a boost of energy.
Providence answered back, but the team found another moment of hope when Pedro Morelli put in the second goal, keeping the match alive and giving the boys something to fight for.
Everything came down to the final minutes.

With the clock running out, the team threw their numbers forward, desperate for one last chance. And right at the final second, Kristian Stanek delivered the moment of the game—slamming in the goal that tied it up and sent the bench into chaos. The crowd exploded.
“When the ball went in, it was absolutely crazy,” Liam Johnson said. “That feeling is too hard to describe.”
In the back, goalkeeper Hao He held the team together. His communication and focus kept them alive long enough to make the comeback possible.“I stayed focused by talking nonstop with my teammates and keeping my eyes on the ball every moment,” he explained. His late saves and direction were a big part of why the team still had hope near the end.
After the match, the emotions were mixed.
“Right after the game, we were all tired and frustrated,” Liam said. “Individually, our team is extremely strong, b

ut coming together is difficult.” Communication, he added, is still a work in progress.
But even with the pressure, belief never faded.“In the last minutes, it was pure desperation,” he said. “I just hoped we could tie the game.” And they did.
The result keeps the team’s undefeated streak alive, while also showing where growth is needed.“This match taught me that we need to stay united, work hard, and keep getting stronger after mistakes,” Hao shared.
As the season continues, the team aims to build more chemistry—so the next win doesn’t have to come down to the very last second.
