The Cookie & Cocoa advisory event for EF Academy Pasadena students on the 6th and 7th of December at Dr. M.’s house just ended leaving students with many joyous memories.
This is the second time this event has been held. Sharing some thoughts on this event, Dr. M. said, “As the head of the school, I feel a little bit like everyone’s mom, so I like to have students over to share some mom’s cookies.” The Cookie & Cocoa went smoothly and was a great success for our second annual event, “it was really nice to see all of our students catch up!”, said Mrs. Torres, a recently returned EF teacher
According to Mrs. Torres, preparations began “a couple weeks in advance.” Everyone gathered at Dr. M.’s house to bake and set up. Besides Dr. M.’s family, the faculty that helped make the night a success included: Ms. Kaitlyn, the advisors, the resident life staff, the facility team, and almost everyone else on campus.
“My daughter and I always bake gingerbread and shortbread cookies, and we wanted to share [this family tradition] with the EF family,” Dr. M. said. Additionally, this event was an opportunity for students to come together, have an exciting night, and give back to the community through Toy Drive before heading back to their homes for the winter break.
“I just love to have students over, and this event is a great way to understand the students and say goodbye before they go home, so I really love it!” said Dr. M.
It was a chance to go to the head of the school’s house and just casually get together and celebrate; it “means a lot to [Dr. M.] to be able to check in with students and hear about their plan for winter break”, said Mrs. Torres.
“I hope our students have a lot of rest, spend time on themselves, and stay connected with friends and family. Especially for our seniors after a stressful semester for college applications,” said Mrs. Torres.
Thankfully, EF’s winter break schedule considers an entire month of holidays, letting students have extended relaxation time. Hope that our students have a good rest, a joyous holiday, a merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
