On Monday, April 14th, EF Academy students stepped back into the Strong Hall with a renewed sense of space and community. After months of sharing the building with Saint Mark’s School, the school community embraced a return to normal as Saint Mark’s officially relocated to a temporary campus built on EF Academy’s “field of dreams,” now known as “Saint Mark’s Village,” outside Robinson Center. The transition marked the end of a shared space experience and the beginning of a more spacious and focused school environment for EF students.
As a heartfelt parting gift, the students of Saint Mark’s Elementary left behind thoughtful thank you letters on the walls of Strong Hall, words that continue to brighten our days and remind us of the warmth and connection our schools share.
Teachers and students shared mixed reactions to the return back to the Strong Hall.
As Ms. Vineyard said, “I really missed Strong Hall. It’s not just a building, it’s part of our identity, coming back here brings a sense of stability, comfort, and the feeling of a true school home.”
However, not everyone was enthusiastic about leaving Blackwell. Marinus, an 11th grader, admitted that, “honestly, I liked Blackwell more. It felt newer and more spacious.”
Jack, a 10th grader, agreed: “Blackwell was definitely more comfortable. Plus, it was closer to everything.” Many students appreciated the shorter walks and cozy layout.
Frank, an 11th grader from Poland, had a more neutral stance: “I don’t really mind which building we’re at. But I’ll admit, Blackwell felt a bit more welcoming to me.” His comment reflects how some students quietly preferred the atmosphere there.
Kristian, an 11th grader, shared a more positive take: “It’s good that we are back, we have more space. It’s good that everything feels like before.” His comment reflects the sentiment of those who were excited to return to a more familiar setting, appreciating the sense of normalcy that came with it.
With Strong Hall back in full swing, students and faculty are adapting quickly and looking forward to a strong finish to the school year.
As Mr. Duque added, “I love that I can again control the air-conditioning in my own classroom. Biggest plus ever!”
