The upcoming US elections are not only an important time for American citizens, but also for the international community, including the students of EF Academy in Pasadena. As an international school with a diverse student body, many are curious about how the election results might affect their educational experience and future in the United States.
One of the main concerns for students at EF Academy is how new immigration policies could affect their ability to study in the US. “I’m worried that stricter immigration rules could make it harder for international students like me to renew our visas,” says Minh, a 12th grader from Vietnam. “The election results might change our opportunities to stay and study here.”
Many students feel that being informed and engaged with the political process is crucial, even if they are not US citizens. “We may not be able to vote, but the outcome still affects us in many ways,” says James, a 12th grade student from Germany. “It’s important for international students to pay attention to what’s happening.”
Diversity and inclusion are core values at EF Academy, and students are looking forward to how these issues will be addressed in the upcoming elections. “The way the candidates talk about race and equality makes a big difference in how we address these issues on campus,” says Akifumi, a 12th grader from Japan. “It is important for us, as an international community, to feel that diversity is celebrated.”
Students at EF Academy are also paying close attention to the candidates themselves. “I think Trump’s policies are more business friendly, and as someone interested in studying economics, I support him for his stance on lowering taxes,” says Adrian, a 12th grader from the US. “He seems to understand the economy well, even if some of his views are controversial.”
On the other hand, some students are learning towards Vice President Kamala Harris. “I support Kamala Harris because she seems to care more about social justice and equality,” shares Sofia, a 12th grade student from Italy. “Her background as a woman of color resonates with me, and I feel like she understands the struggles of minority groups.”
The economic impact of the elections could also affect students’ families. “My parents are already concerned about the cost of living and tuition,” says Stefano, a 12th grader. “Depending on the new administration’s policies, we might see changes in tuition fees or scholarships for international students.”
The US’s role in global politics also plays a critical role in shaping international relations. “As someone from China, I’m curious to see how the election might affect the relationship between the US and my home country,” explains Anson, a 12th grade student from China. “This could impact exchange programs and collaborations between American and Chinese institutions.”
The outcome of the elections on November 5th will likely influence immigration policies, tuition fees, and international relations, all of which are concerns for students at EF Academy. As the votes are cast, the school community remains attentive, aware that the results will shape their future opportunities and experiences in the US.
