On Thursday, Nov. 30, the EF Academy Varsity Boys’ Basketball team competed in their third home game of the season gaining a win against the LILA High School. Until Thursday, EF Academy Pasadena has been defeated in all the games, losing by a large margin. But on Thursday EF Academy was ready for a change.
Over the past two weeks, the EF Academy Pasadena basketball team experienced a challenging period, struggling with defeats in all their games as they faced formidable opponents and found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard with a notable disadvantage. These losses were undoubtedly disheartening for the players and the entire school community. The team’s resilience, however, did not disappear, and the recent victory against LILA High School suggests a renewed determination to overcome obstacles and strive for excellence.
Head Coach Roy highlighted the team’s growth and at the same time luck, saying, “We had a bit of luck, but I remain happy with the result. They deserved it. We played good only for the first 16 minutes, demonstrating a high level of focus and hard work on the court. In fact, we were winning by 33-3. Then, we started to lose that consistency and the other team scored 20 more points but we still won 43-23. We’ve learned from our defeats, and tonight’s victory is a result of hard work and a willingness to improve. Our focus now is on maintaining this positive path.”
The team’s captain Aki expressed relief and determination after the game, stating, “This win is a testament to our work. We’ve faced tough losses, but tonight, we made it. It’s only the beginning. I see myself and my team ready to move forward.”
This win against LILA High School is more than just a score on the board; it means a revitalized spirit within the EF Academy Varsity Boys’ Basketball team. The players showed improved coordination, strategic gameplay, and constant determination on the court. The team worked hard to make the most of their skills and address weaknesses.
