The EF Academy Pasadena Varsity Boys Volleyball team concluded the 2024-2025 season with a commendable 11-11 overall record, finishing 6th in league play and advancing to the playoffs. Despite a challenging schedule and stiff competition within the league, the team showed tremendous heart, perseverance, and notable progress from the start to the final match.
Throughout the season, the team demonstrated flashes of brilliance and determination that kept fans engaged and hopeful. Some of the season’s highlights included two commanding 3-0 victories over Calvary Baptist (on February 24th and again on April 7th), showcasing the team’s ability to execute with precision. Another memorable moment came in the form of a nail-biting 3-2 win over El Monte on April 2nd, a testament to the team’s resilience under pressure and refusal to back down. Additionally, the comeback win against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy on February 27th stood out as a defining moment for the team.
Of course, the season came with its fair share of challenges. The team faced tough losses, such as back-to-back sweeps by Polytechnic on April 8th and April 12th, as well as a competitive 1-3 defeat to St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy on April 11th. Yet through every loss, the players maintained a positive mindset and pushed each other to improve.
Team spirit remained high throughout the season, thanks in part to the leadership of the seniors and the tight-knit bond among teammates. “I enjoyed playing together with the team,” said a 12th-grade player who asked not to be named. “It was a great experience, and I’m proud of how far we’ve come.”
Other players echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing how the season helped them grow not only as athletes but also as individuals. “This season taught me how to trust my teammates and keep pushing forward, no matter the score,” said Liam, a 10th-grade player. “We had ups and downs, but we always came back stronger.”
With several key players set to return and new talent expected to join the roster next year, the outlook for the 2025-2026 season is bright. The foundation laid this season, in both skill development and team chemistry, positions EF Academy’s volleyball squad for even greater success in the future.
As the team reflects on a season filled with learning moments, hard-fought battles, and unforgettable memories, one thing is clear: the passion and dedication they’ve shown will carry forward. The scoreboard might show an even record, but the growth behind those numbers tells the story of a team on the rise.
