Just a short nine-minute walk from EF Academy, the Açaí Bar at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Hill Avenue is a popular place for students. Many students go there to enjoy tasty açaí bowls, relax, and spend time with friends. With fresh food and a friendly atmosphere, it has quickly become a favorite spot.
The açai berry grows in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. For centuries, indigenous people have consumed it by crushing it into a porridge or mixing it with other local foods.
In the United States, açaí began to become popular in the 2000s, when brothers Ryan and Jeremy Black first imported large quantities of frozen açaí pulp, sparking rapid interest as a “superfruit” thanks also to celebrity and nutritionist endorsements. Its widespread diffusion in the form of the “açaí bowl” then exploded around 2008 in the most wellness-focused cities (Los Angeles, New York), driven by social-media word of mouth and the boom in local venues.
The Açaí Bar is known for its delicious açaí bowls, smoothies, and healthy snacks. Students love to go there after school or during the weekend. It’s a great place to hang out, talk, and enjoy a fresh and healthy meal.
“I really enjoy going to the Açaí Bar during the weekend with my friends to spend time together eating a really good açaí bowl,” says Malwina, a 12th-grade student.
Students enjoy the açaì because they have the opportunity to choose between a variety of toppings.
Many students also order their food online when they don’t have time to walk there. The bowls are full of colorful fruits, granola, and other tasty toppings. The staff are nice, and the service is quick, which makes it easy for busy students to enjoy a treat.
“I often get something from the Açai Bar because it’s really close to the school, and if I don’t feel like ordering something on Uber Eats, I’ll just go and grab something there,” said Celia, a 10th-grade student.
The Açaí Bar is not just a place to eat, but a place where EF Academy students can relax and have fun. Thanks to its good food, nice atmosphere, and close location, it’s no surprise that so many students love it.
