On Wednesday April 9th, EF hosted its annual Arts Night in Blackwell. At this event, students had the opportunity to showcase their artworks. There was a wide variety of pieces exhibited, including music, 2D art, 3D art, watercolor, and oil paintings. The works were eye-catching and attracted attention from everyone who viewed them on the walls.
This event was not only about displaying art but also about exploring how students and teachers perceive the pieces differently, since each artwork can look and feel unique to each person.
Jordan, a 10th grader, noted that seeing the work of his peers was “super valuable.” The pieces, he said, were “very special.” In particular, “there are many different great paintings and an artistic atmosphere.”
It was the first Arts Night for House Parent Mr. Manuel, who noted the “amazing” range of works. “The works that really got me were the 3-D building works with super detailed lines. … I was just shocked by them,” he said.
Head of School Dr. Mingarelli also said that Arts Night made a deep impression. “This year’s art night was amazing,” she said, “especially with many paintings that caught my eye and were really beautiful. It also made me realize many different painting styles.”
Compared to last year’s Arts Night, more artworks were showcased this year, and students’ creativity has developed further. For future support of Arts Nights, this critic believes that even more artworks can be exhibited. For example, exhibiting performance art can allow some people to perform performance art such as dancing.
