On Saturday February 22nd, EF Academy’s Blackwell building came alive with colors, flavors, and performances as students from 31 countries came together to represent their cultures at the Culture Fair. The event provided an immersive experience allowing students, teachers and visitors to see different cultures from around the world through food, music, interactive activities
Staff and students applauded the event for its strong organization and enthusiastic participation. “I loved it! Everyone contributed, and the preparation was easy,” said Mr. Clemente, impressed by the teamwork involved. Mr. Duque praised the students’ efforts, calling it “a fantastic example of student leadership.”
Mr. Machado, who represented Brazil, enjoyed the opportunity to see students proudly showcase their nationalities. “South Korea, China, and Russia stood out with their incredible presentations,” he said. However, he noted that cleanup posed a challenge.
The event wasn’t just about performances and displays; it was also an opportunity for students to experience diverse cuisines and traditions. Margo, an 11th grader, particularly enjoyed the performances. “I don’t usually participate, but I loved the hula dance. It was amazing to watch,” she shared.
Xavi, a 10th grader who represented Andorra, had a positive experience. “The preparation went well,” Xavi said.
Ms. Kaitlyn, one of the key organizers, emphasized the importance of the event in fostering inclusivity and cultural appreciation. “The Culture Fair provides a special time for students to celebrate diversity on campus,” she explained.
Planning begins as early as November, with students taking charge of activities, budgeting, and food preparation. “The best part is seeing them take ownership of their heritage and share it with pride,” she added.
