Millie’s Cafe is a standout spot that combines the charm of a neighborhood cafe with a menu full of options for everyone. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a lively, bustling vibe, filled with the sounds of clinking glasses, laughter, and friendly chatter. Despite the steady flow of people, the space maintains a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The lively energy is infectious, adding to the charm, and the staff’s genuine smiles and attentiveness bring a comforting balance to the organized chaos.
Founded in 1926, Millie’s Cafe now operates in two locations: one in Silverlake and another just 600 meters from the EF campus, at 1399 E. Washington Blvd. They serve breakfast, lunch, and brunch all week, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering both indoor and outdoor seating.
The menu includes over one hundred different items, both savory and sweet. Wraps, burgers, bagels, burritos, tacos, salads, eggs fried, scrambled or benedict, fluffy pancakes, french toast, and waffles with a variety of toppings. When it comes to any dietary restrictions or preferences this place is very inclusive. You can find plenty of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or dairy-free options.
We decided to order the Veggie Mess with the homemade biscuit, Eggs Florentine, Neptune’s Mess, and the Monkey Banana Pancake. Each dish was prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients and came out with a delicious blend of flavors that was truly satisfying. The drinks were equally delightful. We enjoyed the complementary ice water, as well as a lavender lemonade and a pistachio matcha latte. The bill for three people came out as $89.81 before the tip.
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful; they were always attentive to our needs without being intrusive. While the food arrives quickly once ordered, it’s worth noting that wait time for a table can stretch over an hour on busy days. Reservations are not available, but joining the waitlist via the Yelp app allows you to track your place in line and receive estimated wait times. Signing up before leaving campus can help reduce your wait, especially during peak hours, making it easier to align with the E. Washington Pass during the weekend.
Millie’s Cafe is celebrated for its lively, fast-paced atmosphere, filled with bustling conversations and waiters weaving through with large trays. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a high-quality, filling breakfast with friends and want to be energized by a vibrant atmosphere, Millie’s is the spot to do it.
